Set up your IoT device
Set up your IoT device with the following settings.
Here’s what to do:
1. If no parameter is set, the device automatically reads the APN of the Things Mobile SIM card.
2. If you are prompted to set the APN, use the following parameter to set up the device: TM
3. If you are asked your username and password, leave the fields empty.
4. Enable data roaming on your device.
Below are also some additional parameters that might be useful to you (but if you are not asked, you can also ignore them):
1. SMS : Service Center: 447797704000
2. MCC: 234
3. MNC: 50
4. Operator Code (PLMN): 23450
Don’t forget that...
1. Things Mobile SIM card is a SIM card dedicated to IoT and M2M devices and is therefore not suitable for use in phones. However, you can insert it in a phone to test it.
2. The Things Mobile SIM card number is printed on the back of the SIM card.
3. The credit is shared by all the SIM cards in the account and its management is carried out by default automation that keeps 10 MB on each SIM card. At the time of activation, the SIM card is recharged with 10 MB. The default automation can be modified and customized in the IoT Portal in the Plan Management section. In the IoT Portal you can consult the remaining credit and traffic available on the SIM cards.
4. To send text messages from Things Mobile to another operator, you need to prefix the country code (for example, if you need to send a text message to an UK operator, the prefix is +44). If you need to send a text message to your Things Mobile SIM card from another provider, enter the full number +882... (with +). The cost of sending text messages from another operator to Things Mobile SIM cards depends on the operator's rates.
What can you do?
Your Things Mobile SIM card lets you carry out data traffic, send and receive text messages (check on the website www.thingsmobile.com in the section Supported Operator Coverage). The Things Mobile SIM card is not enabled for conventional voice calls.
How do I manage it?
Nothing could be simpler. We have developed the IoT Portal, a powerful and effective tool that lets you manage and monitor your Things Mobile SIM cards. For example, you can manage the consumption of your devices in real time, consult the CDRs with details of costs, set limits of use and custom alarms when certain thresholds are reached or set a maximum duration of operation of the SIM card.
In the IoT Portal, you can also recharge your account, purchase Data Packages and Shared Data Packages or activate the unlimited plan. You also have a section dedicated to sending and receiving text messages from which you can:
1) Send text message to the SIM card
2) View text messages sent by the SIM card
Sending text messages from the IoT Portal is convenient: you have 1 free text message every $ in credit (so if you buy a $10 recharge, you have 10 free text messages).
Problems using it the first time?
